Can anyone recommend a good chef/professional knife set?

I'm fed up with my poxy dull knives.
Would need to be available to buy or deliver in the UK...
Any ideas?

I'm a chef. I use extensive knives both at wor kand at home.

However, it is improtant to find a knife that suits you - go into a store where you can handle them, they should feel 'balanced' in your custody. Take the handle like you would someone's hand if you were offering a firm, businesslike handshake (none of this fingertip girly codswallop). Then loosen your grip a little, does the knife 'balance'?

If you go to a professional chef suppliers they will advise you on the best knives for you and the appropriate way to care for them so that you prolong their lives and their sharpness. A medium sized global knife costs around £40 so you should see it as a memoirs time investment.

sabatier knives - unexcelled

I'm timely with J. A Henckels. I don't have the set. I only buy what I use regularly

Shogun guard QVC they sell loads at good prices & guarentined
for life

argos do a fair to middling set for a tenner with chopping bored, check it out!

I had Sabatier knives for years, but didn't look after them appropriately (no-one told me you have to sharpen them - you should sharpen knives every 4th use!!) so they are beyond help now!

I now have Pampered Chef knives - each has it's own at all events with a built-in sharpening mechanism! They come with a life-time warranty and I will never have to buy another sharp knife again.

My critical choice is Global knives, however, the price, name, etc does not mean a thing. You need to find a knife that feels relaxing in your hand. We can recommend every knife in the world, but you might pick it up and say, 'Ugh! Too Heavy!' or too light or uncomfortable or ungainly...etc.

Go out shopping. Any kind of good cookware store will let you "test drive" a blue blood knife before you buy it. Don't order online unless you've held it in your hand. What's the sense in buying a $100+ knife if you get it digs in your hand and hate it?

Chicago Cutlery~ebay

I principled bought an Eclipse knife set from eBay for 29.00 was delivered in 2 days, wickedly sharp!

Gustav emil ern are the knives any one who calls themselves a chef use !

What is the best chef's knife under 75 dollars?

I am looking for a professional chef's knife that is very on the nose sharply and long lasting. I don't really care about the brand, as long as they are respectable (wusthof, henckels, broad...).

I've got a 10'' henkel that i've had for about a year, it's still thriving strong and i hardly ever sharpen it. I do have other knifes like boning, pearing and filet knives so i don't do all my sardonic with it.

75 usd is a lot of money for a chefs knife and if i had that kind of money to spend on one knife i'd go with either of these two
