www.newel.com - Newel.com: Old American Country style (19th Cent) copper cauldron with wrought iron handle (American, Hinterlands, accessories ...

I have a copper cauldron, and although I conscious the meaning of its purpose, I need more info on how to use it. I know that salt is out of the question.
Impose on it in the corner and spit into it. (called a spitoon)
I bought a copper fire cauldron from Smith and Hawken, and after one use, the surface is blackened so bad, you can't tell it is copper. I wiped it with stainless steel cleaner, but it didn't do much. I certain copper is supposed to age and take on a bit of a patina over time, but I don't think this is normal. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
for a penny-pinching and non toxic way to clean copper cut a lemon in half and dip it in salt. rub it salt side down in a circular motion then wipe with a dank cloth. if that doesn't work then try the commercial cleaners.
I advantage the huge copper fire cauldron from Smith & Hawken - it is a really deep pit with a rack that sits about 6 inches below the top lip and a retractable partition, I wasn't sure if the logs go on top of the rack or at the bottom of the pit, if they go at the bottom of the pit then what is the rack for - it doesn't look like something to cook on? They didn't send instructions and I couldn't find the response online - any feedback would be great, I want to blaze tonight!!!

All Veterans Memorial to be dedicated at World War II Tower The marker stands 44 inches tall and consists of a copper cauldron atop a copper-clad pylon. Three-dimensional effrontery flames arise from the cauldron, symbolizing the passing of the torch from local World War II veterans to all area veterans. |
