how do i get the lid off a pressure cooker?

It is a Philippe Richard tag. I sterilized something in it a week ago and let it sit w/o every removing the lid. Now it appears stuck. I may have added too little water also. It has a SAFETY VALVE and a Refuge LOCK, but I cannot tell how to override or operate them.

I am not of with your brand of pressure cooker, however on my pressure cooker where the handle is between the handle on the lid and the one on the bottom pot there is a little lock that sometimes gets hung up and I have to run a knife between the two handles to get the inadequate latch to release, large pressure cookers usually have t hese on the side handles, you will be able to hear it joggle when you put a knife between the two handles.......if you get it opened be sure to check your gasket to make sure you haven't damaged it, if it looks sound remove it and wash and dry it well and coat it with cooking oil.....good luck!

If this pattern is aluminum, its possible there may be some slight corrosion holding them together since it wasn't opened within a few hours after cooling. You may have to prompt it with some gentle taps with a soft rubber mallet. Careful, you don't want to damage anything that would adopt the seal or integrity of the pot.

If it's unapproachable, it's not under pressure. You're supposed to oil the gasket when you use it. A dry gasket will stick to the pot when it gets hot. If it's cool, perfectly do whatever it takes to get it off and you'll probably need a new gasket. The lid should just turn to open it.

You might try reheating it. if it has a rubber bung (safety valve), pry it out and pour some water in there and heat it till it steams. That might soften the gasket. When it cools down a trivial, try opening it. Don't presurize it, just let some water boil in it for 10 or 15 minutes, unseat from heat and let stand for another 15 minutes, then open. Let me know if this works.

I f u ran it dry, u are timely that it did not blow up. Probably u melted the rubber ring in the lid. to override the safety lock u can use a case wound and life it up so that the lid will be able to be turned.
